Dranetz welcomes Matt Logue as Regional Sales Manager for the Central United States.
Matt supports customers and distributors across the Central U.S., including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and Michigan.
With a career spanning technical products, sales, team building, and channel development, Matt brings a practical approach to each customer conversation. His goal is to understand the problem, explain the options, and help customers gather the data needed to make informed decisions.
Turning power quality questions into answers
For Matt, the most rewarding part of working with customers is problem-solving.
Power quality issues rarely show up as “the meter is broken.” They show up as a mystery breaker trip or a drive fault nobody can explain.
“Helping an engineer turn a gut feeling into hard data is the part of the job that never gets old,” Matt said.
Much of his work involves technical translation rather than preparing quotes. He helps customers figure out whether they need an HDPQ Xplorer or Visa, or whether their “harmonics problem” is actually a grounding issue.
“The best sales conversations don’t feel like sales conversations at all,” he noted.
Building strong distributor partnerships
Matt places a high value on long-term distributor relationships.
“A good distributor relationship isn’t a transaction. It’s a shared bench,” he said. “When their rep knows they have a resource to get the answer (me), we both win, and the end customer gets faster answers.”
That partnership helps distributors respond to technical questions while giving customers access to knowledgeable support throughout the buying and troubleshooting process.
Helping customers build a monitoring strategy
Matt is proudest when a customer comes in looking for a single instrument and leaves with a real monitoring strategy for their electrical system.
The most rewarding moment often comes later, when the customer reports that the data helped identify the source of the problem.
“When someone circles back three months later and says, ‘We found the root cause, thanks,’ that’s a great feeling,” Matt said.
Why harmonics deserve more attention
One power quality issue Matt believes deserves greater attention is harmonics.
While voltage sags are often the focus, harmonics are also known to contribute to overheating transformers, nuisance trips, and reduced motor efficiency. Many facilities do not measure them until equipment has failed.
According to Matt, a one-week power quality survey with the proper PQ meter can uncover valuable information and may pay for itself many times over.
Experience across power monitoring and electrical safety
Matt sees two key strengths in Dranetz. The first is more than 60 years of purpose-built power monitoring experience, from the HDPQ family to Dran-View. The second is Dranetz’s place within GMC Instruments. Customers can work through one point of contact for Dranetz, Gossen Metrawatt, Seaward, Rigel, Prosys, and Camille Bauer products. This breadth can help when a customer wants to consolidate vendors.
Life outside of work
After hours, Matt enjoys coaching his children’s flag football team, which he calls the best part of his week. When he has time to get away, he also enjoys fishing in the Florida Keys.
Matt looks forward to continuing his work with customers, distributors, and partners throughout the Central region. “I’ve spent my career at the intersection of technical products and sales, learning products deep enough to be useful to the customer, not just to the quote,” he said. “I’m excited to keep building the Central region.”
